What is Water Quality?:
Presenting a "new" Science Olympiad event this year, we have WATER QUALITY. The Event is split into 3 parts. The 1st part focuses on general information on water quality, such as freshwater ecology and treatments/causes of poor water quality. The 2nd part focuses on things that indicate water quality, such as flora and other organisms. And the final part is the analysis of water quality using means such as pH levels and salinity.
Where to study: http://soinc.org/water_quality_c How to study for qualifying tests:
If you didn't get the memo, yes we are trying to enact qualifying tests in order to get onto the team. As much as we would love to take every single person and put them into every event, there is sadly a limit, meaning that only the best will be able to go for their events. These 'practice' exams, if you will, are going to be administered semi-frequently, and with them we hope to be able to gauge your ability in each event. The materials that you should study will be outlined in emails that are sent out to those who signed up for said events!!
Upcoming test: material that is on the overview handout
How to study for the actual competition:
Don't cram, or if you must, start doing it at least 2 weeks prior. Running through the power points that are on the site should help you plenty
